Prestonwood Music Ministry

Dick and Ann Baker were living in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas when they heard of a new church starting in North Dallas.  It was a mission church of Northway Baptist Church in Dallas.  There was a need for a Baptist church in a growing area.  This new church was to be called Prestonwood Baptist Church and it was meeting in temporary places near their targeted location at Hillcrest and Arapaho Road.  Dick and Ann had recently moved to Dallas and were looking for a church home.  Dick was still in evangelism and music publishing.  He began helping this small group of believers with their Sunday worship services when he was available.  It was so exciting to be a part of starting a new church that was needed.

The Lord blessed that visionary group.  Dick joined them as one of the first 3 full time staff members and they based their office  in an apartment building near the building site.  Dick continued as their music minister and associate pastor from 1978 until 1992.   He built the music ministry from the ground up.  They eventually had a 200 – 300 member choir, a full orchestra, a music conservatory, a magnificent Banner Ministry, and full children’s and youth choir programs.  The ministry produced 3 choir productions each year, Christmas, Easter, and a summer program.  Sundays were always  special  with so many talented people using their gifts to honor the Lord and draw others to a relationship with Him.  These were very happy years of ministry with this special church family.

Dick enjoyed the Prestonwood Choir as they presented many wonderful programs which included the Orchestra plus the Children's Choirs.  Below are pictures from some of those programs.
